How many places in the United Kingdom or Ireland could offer the experience of skiing and learning English together? You could take English classes in many beautiful towns in England, or learn in wonderful cities in Ireland, you could certainly find a town on the coast with a Language School, but I don’t think there are many Homestay Learning experiences with a ski resort just one hour away.
We may not have the Mont Blanc which Chamonix can boast of, nor the spectacular summits of the Austrian resorts but our “bonny” little Glenshee can tempt skiers in other ways. Even its name is magical, meaning the Valley of the Fairies. On a fine day, with good snow a skier can enjoy its wonderful 36 runs with 40 km of pisted snow and a range of runs to suit all levels from beginners to experienced skiers.
Most English language Learners choose to learn during the summer months which, of course, are a wonderful time but winter in Scotland offers other charms. There are the breath taking hills where visitors can spend hours walking and enjoying the spectacular views that every turn in the path brings. Cycling can be enjoyed at any time of the year with both quiet country roads and off road routes available directly from the door of Active English Homestay Learning. Bird watching, photography, city tours, cooking, art classes, all cultural activities and much more can be enjoyed and organised for students in the winter.
Classes can be taken morning or afternoon to accommodate you winter activities. Days are shorter so learning can take place at the cosy fire in Lucy’s living room, with a cup of hot chocolate while practising modal verbs and future perfect! A winter English language Course can be packed with just as much fun and activity as a summer one. What a great way to learn English!
