The wonderful thing about staying with a family to learn English is that you will certainly find out about all the local events. One such event is the “Taste Angus Food Festival” taking place just ten minutes’ drive from Active English Homestay Learning, on 19 – 20 August 2017.
These festivals are a great way to discover local food dishes, compare what you know about Scottish traditional food and actually see for yourself the new trends. Scotland is not just Haggis and Oatcakes, although both these foods are delicious and must be tasted by any visitor or student.
Not only will there be the opportunity to taste locally grown strawberries and raspberries but, on offer will also be a Champagne and Oyster Bar, as well as a Food Street with award winning local food vendors.
No visit to Scotland would be complete without trying an Afternoon Tea! This is not that quaint idea that English Language Leaners have of English people drinking a cup of tea at five o clock along with a slice of boring fruit cake – No, this is a scrumptious selection of cakes and biscuits with as much tea or coffee as you can manage.
If you want a break from the food and drink there’s also live music and entertainment, field sports to try like archery and falconry and all this in the beautiful grounds of Glamis Castle, home to the Queen Mother.
