Be Part of the Family
Lucy is a fully qualified CELTA Teacher with 30 years experience teaching French, Spanish and TESOL in Zaragoza, Spain, La Vendee, France and throughout the United Kingdom. I have taught in the Secondary sector for 30 years in Ireland, London and Scotland. My students have included teenagers in the public sector, adults in the private sector. I have taught both large groups of students and one to one with adults and young learners.
I have a genuine passion for teaching language, am committed to delivering professionally prepared lessons while also ensuring that the learning environment is relaxed and fun. I look forward to teaching my language and sharing my culture with you.
Research shows that the best way to learn English is through a combination of lessons and total immersion in the language. This is fundamental to the course we offer at Active English. You will speak English all day every day in a relaxed and caring environment.
I originally come from Ireland but travelled extensively before settling in Alyth, Scotland from where we run Active English Homestay. On a personal level family and friends are at the heart of everything for me. I have been married to Tom for 25 years. We have 3 grown up children; two work in the Oil Industry in Scotland and London and one is studying to be a Nurse. All students staying in our home are treated as part of the family and are guaranteed to have a very warm welcome. We are here to make sure you enjoy your stay.
For me, being active is a way of life. I enjoy everything outdoors; walking in the hills, gardening but especially cycling. I would love to share these passions with you during your Homestay course.
I also enjoy painting ( I have exhibited twice), dancing ( I recently took up Salsa), cooking, cinema and reading.
Speak English and feel your confidence grow.
Lucy is married to Tom who also comes from Ireland. He is friendly, great company, interested in everything from sport and current affairs to house building and science.
